You are required to listen to Beethoven Symphony no. 9.
Contain a separate bibliography with no less then three sources. Each of the three sources must be cited at least once in the paper. These can be websites, journal, articles, books, etc. NO WIKIPEDIA!! The sources are used to help you understand what you listened to. What do you know about the composer, the work, the performer, etc.
Be type written using standard 1”margins, Times New Roman, 12 point, and a consistent style guide. Must be in Word doc, not PDF. You may use APA or MLA. YOU MUST SITE YOUR SOURCES!
In introductory paragraph, inform the reader of the following and include the link of the performance.
- what was the work?
- Who was the composer?
- Who were the artist?
- Where and when performed?
For the body paragraph, remember that your analysis is of the music not the composer’s life.
-what is the time period for this composer/composition?
-What historical elements about the pieces are significant?
-What is the instrumentation?
-What is the genre?
-What is the significance of this composition in the composer’s body of work?
-what musical elements did you hear? How was this typical of this time period?
-bring new information about the performer, the hall, the work, etc.
The body of the paper should include your analysis. Don’t forget to include: What musical elements did you hear in the composition? How are they representatives that time period or genre?
As you conclude your paper, please include your personal response:
-was it a quality performance? Why or Why not? Explain your answer using aesthetics terms
- Did you like it? Why or why not?
