Chapter 9
1. Identify the defining features of somatoform disorders and distinguish the major features of hypochondriasis from illness phobia and somatization disorder.
2. Describe the major manifestations of conversion disorder as well as the sensory, motor, and visceral symptoms that characterize this disorder.
3. Understand malingering and factitious disorders and their relation to the diagnosis of somatoform (e.g., conversion disorder) and dissociative disorders (e.g., dissociative identity disorder).
4. Be able to distinguish between depersonalization and derealization.
5. Be able to describe and distinguish among the five types of dissociative disorders: depersonalization disorder, dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, dissociative trance disorder, and dissociative identity disorder (e.g., alters, host, and a switch).
