Smart Presents Shopping

query_builder January 4, 2018

Apart from all the stress we have to deal with during the holiday season and the aftermath of the exam period, there is one more problem many of us face: last-minute presents. I wish I could say I was smart enough to plan and buy presents in advance, but I would be
lying. It may be daunting, boring and challenging in so many ways! So, here is my top 5 list on how to find all gifts you need without going broke.

  1. Prioritize: come up with the list of people you need to find a gift for. Be honest with yourself and try to understand whether each person on this list has to receive a gift and why (I’m not saying you shouldn’t do that, but this can help you understand how much money you can spend on each person, or whether you really need to);
  2. Buy in bulk and customize: we all have 5 to 7 people we never can find a present for. Last year I tried to buy a sort of a unified gift so that I could customize them (spray paint, stickers, and hot glue) and make them fit my needs. This year I’m torn between cups and travel kits. Such gifts can be also given to couples, as they normally do not mind similar gifts (a set of nice towels can be a great present for your parents).
  3. Clearance: okay, we all know this, but many people feel guilty for buying presents during clearance time. I’m not sure why, but I deeply admire a friend of mine who hasn’t bought anything at its full price for the last year, and considering the fact that clearance usually gives you a discount from 50% up to 85-90%, this can be a really great deal!
  4. Think: we all have a list of things we won’t buy ourselves. Not because they cost a fortune, but for whatever other reasons, such as ‘it’s silly’, ‘I’m a grown-up person, I don’t need this’ or ‘I have a similar one, I can’t buy this one too’. If you know that someone likes something, why not to take the advantage of this?
  5. It’s THAT time of year: let’s be honest, we all want all those pretty details that help us build up a holiday mood. A phone case with Rudolph or a sarcastic phrase, Santa Clause socks, a pair of mittens with candy canes ornaments or tons of other things.

Do-Nots of Holidays Shopping

Here is a little trick, which you may keep in mind: don’t order anything that requires long- or mid-distance shipment, as even with postal services working extra-hours during this period you still may be late with your present. If desperately need to order something and you see it won’t be here on time, be creative! Give this lucky person a nicely decorated envelop with a tracking number inside! Or just get him/her a gift card from that store.

Do not get something that will make brows rise, especially if you have a morning gift-opening family tradition. Yes, you may know some things about people, but that doesn’t mean that you have to share them with the whole world!

These are my ideas for last minute Christmas presents and I hope they will help you survive this holiday season. Good luck with your shopping and let me know whether these pieces of advice work for you!GET A PRICE QUOTE
