1. The Cluny

Based in the cool Ouseburn Valley area, The Cluny is an intimate live music venue, pub and café.

It is well known for its great location and alternative music scene.

2. Newcastle City Hall

A large concert hall that opened in 1927, City Hall hosts comedy as well as pop music and classic artists; so there’s something for everyone.

Featuring artists – The Bootleg Beatles, Cyndi Lauper, UB40, The Human League, Billy Ocean and Lindisfarne.

3. O2 Academy

This venue supports very current bands that you’ll hear on BBC Radio One, as well as some bands from the 1990s making a comeback.

The O2 is also host to great club nights at the weekend (currently student night Dirty Pop).

The University’s own club, with special nights for the students and small gigs from the latest musicians on the radio. A great place to dance the night away with university friends.

5. Utilita Arena

For big shows and global artists, the Utilita Arena is only a short walk from the Newcastle Central Train Station.

Sneaky 6. The Sage

Located on the Gateshead side of the Quayside, this isn’t technically in Newcastle but it is a fantastic venue which has some great bands and artists, fantastic acoustic sets, as well as music classes for all ages.

Sage is also host to the Summer Tyne Americana Festival, a free outdoor weekend show featuring visiting rockers from the States.
