My selected healthcare policy concern is uninsured in Chicago State. According to Chicago Health Atlas (2017), the percentage of residents of the Chicago State without health insurance has increased exponentially over the last couple of years. Currently, about 10% of the residents of Chicago remain uninsured. This represents 263,000 people. It is worth noting that American Indian and Alaskan natives represent the highest population of people without health insurance in Chicago.  Increased uninsured in Chicago has consequently led to decreased health outcomes and quality of life of individuals. It has also led to increased rates of mortality and morbidity in the state as more and more patients get limited access to quality patient care.
