For this discussion, the selected international organization is the United Nations (UN).  Founded in 1945, the United Nations aims at maintaining international peace and security, developing friendly relations among nations, achieving international co-operation, as well as harmonizing the actions of nations (United Nations, 2019).  The organization is currently made up of 193 member states.
