What Is a Cover Letter?

A cover letter is a copy of the page that summarizes your career qualification and experience that should be part of a job application. The only unique is when an advertised job application says ‘do not include a cover letter.

A cover letter explains the purpose for the job application in addition to your skills and experience and requests for an opportunity to meet with the employer(s) and be considered for the position. The letter also shows the effectiveness of your communication skills. It is important to learn on how to write a cover letter.

Below is a template on how the cover letter should be written which should also act as a guideline on how it should appear. The letter is a job advertisement for a person applying for a flooring consultancy job in XYZ Ltd.

Address of the employer. (XYZ Ltd)

Dear (Sir, Madam)

RE: Flooring Consultancy-Job Number 1234/J

I am writing to apply for the position of flooring consultancy at XYZ Ltd as advertised online at SEEK on 11th August 2016.

I am a brilliant salesperson as indicated in my CV that I have enclosed and understand that in this fast-paced global retail, effective sales skills are a necessity. I have worked on a shop floor in three highly competitive industries. I have exceeded the sales quota on several periods and I have the required experience in closing the deals on several occasions. I have been awarded the sales person of the year on two occasions in my previous company.

In addition to my Higher Diploma in Design and Decorating from University of Pennsylvania, I understand the needs and specifications of the homeowners. I can be great asset to your company in delivering the necessary effort to generate more sales.
