ASSESSING THE PROBLEM: QUALITY, SAFETY AND COST CONSIDERATIONS

Communication is a healthcare issue that impacts the quality of care and the safety and cost consideration to the patients and their families (Norouzinia et al., 2016). Effective communication is the cornerstone of standard care; it is crucial to meet the patient's needs and provide safe, quality, and personal care that is less expensive (Spruill & Nazario, 2020). The road to transformation of healthcare should be paved with effective communication across the care delivery continuum. This paper examines the health communication problem among patients, families, and nurses. How the health communication impacts quality, costs consideration, and safety of patients during care, How the state board standards of nursing affect the problem, and proposed strategies to improve patient safety, quality of care, and healthcare delivery costs. Impact of Health communication problem on patient's safety, Quality of Care and Costs Robust studies support the argument that effective communication is vital in providing value-based personal care in patients.The body of evidence related better effective communication to improved patient outcomes and family involvement in the patient's care. Good communication among patients and nurses is reported to create a safe work environment where healthcare practitioners can work under minimal pressure and an environment with good rapport. According toWoo et al. (2017), the standard of communication between caregivers and patients drives the patients to perceive their experiences. Studies have indicated that it is essential to establish good communication among patients, their families, and nurses; otherwise, poor communication enhances adverse events and low healthcare quality. Adverse events will also lead to the high costs of health care to the patients since the patient must be transferred to another healthcare facility to correct the adverse event
