There are regulations, certifications, and accreditation that the writer needs for them to practice as an advanced registered public health nurse. Firstly, the author has to be licensed for them to practice in my state as an advanced registered nurse. The writer will have to be certified by the American Nursing Association to enable me to practice according to my area of specialization. This will include passing a national examination for licensing for nurses to practice in the specialty. The author will also need to provide my services in accordance with the professional scope of standards and regulations provided by the profession. This will include abiding by the regulations by the Nurse Practice Act and those stipulated by the Board of Nursing in our state.

Professional Nursing Organizations

Professional nursing organizations play a critical role in advancing the development of advanced registered nurses. They ensure that the advanced registered nurses remain updated on the developments influencing their practice. They also provide them with the opportunities to collaborate on addressing issues that affect the population. The professional organizations also advocate for the adoption of policies that advanced the role and autonomy of the advanced registered nurses. They also come up with standards that regulate the practice of advanced registered nurses. Besides setting, they also monitor the adoption of the standards guiding the practice of the advanced registered nurses (Masters, 2018). Therefore, it is important that advanced registered nurses belong to professional organizations to support their professional and personal development.

The three professional organizations that the author thinks are most influential in advancing the scope as well as influence of advanced nursing is the American Board of Nursing Specialties, American Association of Nurse Practitioners, and American Nurses Association. The American Board of Nursing Specialties is a not-for-profit professional organization that aims at improving the outcomes of the patients, and protection of the consumers through certification of specialized nurses. The mission of the organization is to promote value in nursing specialization through certification for stakeholder safety. The organization also strives to ensure that value is maintained in specialty nursing through organizational sustainability and vitality alongside promotion of continuing competency for nurse specialists. It is driven by values that include consumer protection, quality, integrity, excellence, inclusivity, and innovation (ABNS, n.d.).

The American Association of Nurse Practitioners is another professional organization that acts as a community for nurse practitioners, student nurse practitioners, and organizations that are committed towards providing exceptional care to the patients. The organization also advocates for the rights of the patients as well as nurse practitioners. The organization also strives to promote the advancement in the quality of nursing care provided by the nurse practitioners through interventions such as education, practice, leadership, and research. The organization is driven by values that include integrity, trust, transparency, excellence, reliability, professionalism, and service (AANP, n.d.).  Therefore, it is through its focus on these aspects that it has been able to promote excellence in the standards of advanced nursing practice.

The American Nurses Association is another professional organization that is dedicated towards promoting the empowerment of nurse practitioners through its combined initiatives with the American Nurses Credentialing Center as well as the American Nurses Foundation. It strives to promote excellence by ensuring that the vision and voice of the nurse practitioners are recognized by stakeholders including policy leaders, employers, and influencers of healthcare industry. Through its focus on safety, ethics, and high standards of nursing practice, ANA has been able to transform the roles played by nurse practitioners in the state.

However, the American Nurses Association is the professional organization that the author is most likely to join. The goals of the organization include promoting excellence in nursing care through its focus on ethics. The writer focuses on ensuring excellence in the care that they give. Further, the author ensures that the care that respect the rights of those they care. The writer also ensures that they are ethical in providing care. The other goal of the organization is promotion of collaboration in provision of excellent care to patients. Thus, the author values teamwork in the provision of care.
