Your DBA Journey Prof. Name Date Ontological Humility Cognitive Differentiation Cognitive differentiation refers to the number of different dimensions of meaning or personal constructions. Several studies on Business Model Innovation (BMI) have shown that cognition plays a crucial role in enabling or limiting such innovations (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). In this context, BMI is an effective way to address environmental challenges. BMI is the art of improving value and benefits innovation by making concurrent and equally accommodating changes to both the company’s value proposition to customers and its fundamental operating model. The main benefit of BMI, whether it’s an existing business model or the design and implementation of a new one, is that it identifies new value propositions for generating revenue and finding new ways to create and acquire value. Ontological humility is the idea that none of us sees reality as it is. Ontological humility accepts that there are three realities in ontology. Someone who practices ontological humility elevates their reality in a way that respects themselves (Munro, 2020), but they also recognize that it may involve misinformation that can change their understanding. Cognition The concept of cognitive differentiation is the quantity of different components of importance or individual concepts that a person offers within their system. In this context, BMI is a powerful method of managing environmental challenges. Cognitive differentiation is derived from Kelly’s Role Construct Repertory Test (Cherry, 2020), intended to evoke a representative sample of a person’s concepts and to survey the authoritative properties of these developed dimensions. Cognitive integration is associated with the methods of breeding knowledge. The utilization of the term highlights the significance of integrating the hidden and explicit parts of scholarly activity and their consistency in the creation of new information, achieving new degrees of understanding and self-comprehension (Nurgaleeva, 2015). Cognition involves psychological processes associated with acquiring knowledge and understanding. These intellectual processes include reasoning, knowing, recalling, judging, and problem-solving. These are higher-level functions of the brain and include language, imagination, perception, and planning (Nurgaleeva, 2015). The author of the article “Do You See” uses perception to propose that a business model can be considered a form of intellectual design (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). Several existing studies of BMI have shown that comprehension plays a part in enabling or restricting such development. At the core of BMI failure, there might be differences in insights that seem natural but are generally notable. There are three levels to intellectual achievement: system behavior, human behavior, and ambiguity. System behavior is the interdependence of parts and systems (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). Human behavior is the interaction between diverse individuals and groups. Ambiguity involves the uncertainty of emerging issues and the lack of understanding and confusion. These concepts or levels of integration are essential for handling BMI correctly; otherwise, it will fail. Business Model Innovation Business model innovation is the art of improving and adding value by making concurrent and equally supportive changes to both a company’s value proposal to customers and its fundamental operation model (Wirtz & Daiser, 2018). This is a prominent topic in science and management. The main advantage of BMI, which can be recognized as an activity of changing an existing business model or creating and executing a new one, is its ability to identify new value propositions for generating revenue and creating value (Wirtz & Daiser, 2018). Assumption and Organization Redesign One assumption I would make is whether the other business operates in the same industry as mine. Different industries must operate in specific ways. The industry I am in may not be the same as theirs. This assumption is necessary because it would be like Walmart giving McDonald’s their business model; they are two different businesses in two different industries. Should organizational redesign precede BMI? (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). I believe it should. An experimentation phase, which serves to design, evaluate, and test different business models or options, is suggested. Since BMI is the art of improving and adding value, organizational redesign should precede BMI. Accommodation of BMI Is an organization already designed to accommodate a future BMI more likely to be successful at implementing radical BMI ideas? (Egfjord & Sund, 2019). No, because the success of the business is not guaranteed. A BMI is supposed to come after the business is up and running for a certain period. If a BMI were to come before the organization, it might be based on false assumptions. An
