Describe effective methods you used in identifying and narrowing down to just one of the topics to further research for your Final Paper.

It is still very early in the class so although I have not yet narrowed down to one topic there were

reasons and methods that helped me narrow down to the two I chose. Drugs and substance abuse are

something that I have an interest in researching about. This January I will be five years clean from drugs.

Also, I live in Baltimore, Maryland where drugs are a very serious problem specifically opiates. I have

conducted my own personal research on the crisis, so I know there is plenty of credible research out

there. Pollution is something that I am also very passionate about and can be taken into so many

different directions. From animals and other species going extinct such as the great barrier reef, to our

water ways where we procure food that we ourselves ingest and can negatively impact our heath. Also,

living in Maryland, the Chesapeake Bay is something that is near and dear to us and I avidly donate to

the Chesapeake Bay Foundation which would be one of my resources that I would utilize if I end up

choosing this topic
