Describe four different delivery routes patients may use cannabis, the onset of action for each, and one pro and one con of each route

Oral Another route of administration is through edibles. The absorption of the oral route is 5 – 20%. It is considered to have less absorption than smoking due to the breakdown from the stomach acids (Pirschel, 2018). Tinctures: Another route of administration is by sublingual tinctures. The absorption is higher and faster than the oral route and is considered a preferable route compared to inhalation (Pirschel, 2018). Topical: CBD oils have recently been added to massage oils and sports creams. The rate of absorptions is not clear. The onset time is also not easily understood due to other factors being present in this type of administration; an example of this is massage (Misuraca, 2020). Conclusion As more research is conducted regarding both CBD and THC the effectiveness of each will become better understood regarding their uses for many different conditions. It is the opinion of this author that some type of quality control needs to be done on CBD products to ensure the purity of the product. The research into the types of conditions that CBD is effective with also needs to be completed. The use of CBD remains in its infancy and therefore needs to be used with caution until further research is conducted
