Evolution of Technology and Whether It Is Really So Dangerous: Critical Essay

Technology these days is improved more than before. What we previously knew before as a floppy disk now is a thumb drive that improved its storage capacities to more space and its size to smaller that we could take it anywhere. Technology has advanced in different categories such as medicine, education, marketing, and others. The use of it depends on the person how they use it and how they help contribute to society.

In the healthcare sector, technology has improved taking care of patients. I know that today if one person lost a part of the body, they can replace it with a 3D model imprinted like half of an arm or leg. The evolution of technology has brought us different ways to fix problems like finding a new solution for diseases or disabilities. Some people have a problem hearing. Technology can help us find a solution like hearing aids. A hearing aid is an electronic device that notifies, amplifies, and changes the sound to allow better communication. Hearing aids receive the sound through a microphone, which then converts the sound waves into electrical signals. The amplifier increases the volume of the signals and then sends the sound to the ear through a loudspeaker. That would help a lot of people with a problem hearing. Also, they could find a cure for cancer to prevent millions of people to die from it. The researchers inject DNA nanobots loaded with thrombin into the bloodstream (currently in animals) to treat cancer; when the blood vessels that nourish the tumor arrive, the nanorobots detect the presence of nucleolin thanks to the DNA aptamers and are activated; thrombin initiates a coagulation process that ends up blocking the flow of blood to the tumor and it dies. The treatment with nanorobots showed no signs of toxicity in the treated animals. The concentration of nanorobots in the body had decreased, which meant that nanoparticles could be eliminated by the body naturally. The use of technology in the medical sector is to improve the health of the person, but some people used it for bad things. For example, when I watched a movie about a company that created a virus that makes people sick. They put the virus in the food and sold it on the market. The company was the only one with the solution to the virus because they themselves had created the virus. Their intentions were to take money from people who got sick and could charge whatever they wanted to be the only company with the cure. The problem isn't technology. The problem is people and how they use technology in the wrong way.

We see now that education has changed with technology. Professor and students’ massive amounts of information (books, audio, images, videos) are available at one’s fingertips through the Internet, and opportunities for formal learning are available online worldwide through the Khan Academy, MOOCs, podcasts, traditional online degree programs, and more. Technology enables forms of communication and collaboration undreamt of in the past. Today some students study online, and teachers teach online. Students can share what they are learning with students in other classrooms in other states who are tracking the same expedition. We see that some school have their own projector screen in each classroom. Technology brought us a way easier to teach and learn. Before, the teacher had a problem with teaching without complete information. Now, they have access to all information to teach with a computer with the Internet and a projector screen. It is easier for teachers to create instructional materials for enabling new ways for people to learn and work together. The walls of the classrooms are no longer a barrier as technology enables new ways of learning, communicating, and working collaboratively. Sometimes for people is hard to go in person to learn in class because they are busy, don't have time, and it is too far. The class online brought us the way that people with those problems can get a chance to give the class in an easy way. Online classes have their disadvantage and advantage. The most obvious disadvantage of the online environment is that students and professors are physically disconnected. That means a class where the instructor and students are together online simultaneously and can interact in 'real time'. After all, there is something personal about sitting face to face with a student, determining by conversation or body language what the student does or does not understand. It is useful to stand in front of a classroom and talk, explore, read facial expressions, sometimes argue, and often laugh together. Even in the best online classroom, this just isn't possible. Some of the advantages to take classes online are a variety of courses, lower cost, flexibility, avoid commuting, and learning in a comfortable environment. Online education is generally less expensive than face-to-face courses. For example, costs that are related to transport, such as fuel,
