The results were easy to understand as tables were used to explain the different demographics of
the study (Santos et al., 2019).For instance, the participants and demographic and health variable
distribution were clearly shown in table 2. Different percentages and frequencies were used to
explain various variables and parameters.
Were the findings transferable, applicable, or valuable for your population, setting, or area
of practice? What are the limits of transferability?
8
Yes, the findings were transferable to the population of Portugal, especially for older adults who
have 60 years and beyond. However, there are limits to the transferability concerning the
statistics of men who were underrepresented in the study (Santos et al., 2019).
Do you feel the results of this study have meaning for social work practitioners or
managers? Please elaborate.
Yes, the research outcome is helpful for social work practitioners or managers as they can
understand more about the research gaps that tackle the emotional reactions of older adults to
victimization in the community. At the same time, social work practitioners can understand the
underlying factors such as relationship with the perpetrator as the fundamental variable in
influencing emotional reactions to different forms of abuse faced by older adults (De Donder et
al., 2016). Further, managers of care institutions can design better preventive mechanisms and
interventions for elders' abuse.
