Explanation of why advocacy is considered an essential component of the advanced practice nurse's role

Advocacy is seen as a critical role for ANPs. Nurse practitioners can use advocacy

as a tool to inform and influence social policies, that effectively address the scope of practice and

promotes a just and equitable society that encourages health for all. Nurse advocacy adopts

health in all policies approach (William et al, 2018). Nurse practitioners can advocate for the

right social policies to promote justice, fairness, and health equity and adequately address social

determinate health (William et al, 2018). Socially and economically disadvantaged populations

in our community are less likely to be in good health, less likely to have access to quality

healthcare services, and have more chronic health conditions. Advocacy and committed

resources are essential to address social factors that shape population health. Public policy

interlinks between poor health, social injustice, inequalities, and increase mortality rate (William

et al, 2018). The right policy can help address poor health, improve health equality and address

poverty.

The four pillars of Transformational leadership and the effect it may have on

influencing policy change

Transformational leadership is a framework that uses vision, inspiration, and intellectual

stimulation to motivate people toward change. There are four pillars of transformational

leadership: idealized influence, intellectual stimulation, individualized consideration, and

inspirational motivation. Transformational leadership is a theory that says the leaders work with

the team to identify what changes are necessary to improve conditions. Together they create a

guide and then act collaboratively to execute it (Romano, J. (2019). The transformational leaders

support an interoperable health system that empowers providers and communities to deliver

smarter, safer, and more efficient care, and promotes innovation at all levels. Transformational

leaders create a vision for their followers and guide the change through inspiration and

motivation
