PRESENTING PROBLEM Due toMarge's drinking issue, both her husband recommended that she get treatment. She was a teacher who was fired because of alcohol-related issues. She received a DUI after being in an alcohol related car accident. Her husband and friends intervened to prevent Marge from harming herself or others. The intervention led Marge to being brought in for treatment. Marge expressed that she drank with her husband after work and when the kids went to sleep. She began drinking first thing in the morning before going to work.It progressed to the point where she was drinking before work, after, work, during the day and when she got off. Marge hid from her family and friends that she was thinking. Marge admitted that she drunk to feel normal. Marge attended Alcohol Anonymous for a few months, but because she was under a lot of stress, she began drinking again.She began with small amounts which eventually increased.She did not like that she was being forced into treatment because she did not feel as though she had a problem. Marge claims that the stress of her job and her family contributed to her drinking addiction
