Health disparities existing in Hispanic/Latino group and nutritional challenges

There are distinct health disparities that exist in Hispanic racial group when compared
with the non-Hispanic white racial group which is the majority population growth in the country.
About 20 percent of all adult Hispanics lack health insurance coverage and 10 percent report
poor health compared with 8 percent of non-Hispanic whites. Hispanic women are 40 percent
likely to report cervical cancer than non-Hispanic women while suicide cases are high among
Hispanic females. The main causes of death are heart disease, accidents, and cancer (Sutherland,
Weiler, Bond, Simonson & Reis, 2019, p 1004).
According to analysis of the existing electronic health records by 53 health systems,
Blacks and Hispanic positive cases of COVID 19 are more likely to get hospitalized and die
compared with White patient positive cases. In this case, CDC highlights that only 8.5 percent of
Hispanics have received full Covid vaccination compared to 65.5 percent full vaccination among
non-Hispanic white racial group. This is a demonstration of inability of Hispanic group to access
critical and quality healthcare in the country.
Hispanic group experiences nutritional challenges due to low income levels and cultural
factors. For instance, smoking tobacco is common among Hispanic group and main nutrition
include beef and corn. Hispanic men account for nearly 47 percent of obesity cases among adults
in the country due to snack and packaged beef products (Torquati, Pavey, Kolbe-Alexander &
Leveritt, 2017, P 23).
