Continuing nursing education has an impact on the above aspects. Further education enhances one’s competency, thus enabling a nurse practitioner to maintain integrity while providing quality care services. Additionally, continuing with nursing education enables a nurse practitioner to acquire more knowledge in nursing, which is used to improve the quality-of-care services (Bindon, 2017). The education also changes one’s attitude towards the nursing field, clinical practices, and patients. RNs develop a positive attitude towards these aspects as they continue with their education further. Finally, continuing with education relates to ANA Scope and Standards for Practice and Code of Ethics, which states how professional nurses should practice. In other words, further learning enables a nurse to meet ANA’s expectations and the Standards for Practice and Code of Ethics. Continuing nursing education should be mandatory for all RNs. Therefore, continuing education will improve the nurse’s knowledge and skills, thus enabling them to provide safe, efficient, and quality care services to their patients (Price & Reichert, 2017). The provision of quality care will improve clinical outcomes resulting in low mortality and hospital readmission rates.
