How has evidence-based practice evolved? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this evolution for public health nurses as well as communities?

Topic 1

Quantitative Research Design

Research is either quantitative or qualitative, depending on the investigator’s type of questions in their studies. Quantitative research design uses numbers and accuracy in its work to determine results (Rutberg & Bouikidis, 2018). Nursing research employs a quantitative research design to find evidence-based results that can help solve nursing problems, especially in finding solutions to an epidemic outbreak (Rutberg & Bouikidis, 2018). This study will focus on a quantitative research design that focuses on change in nursing practice and the difference between statistical and clinical significance.

Quantitative design ranges from clinical and medication testing to patient and nurse satisfaction (Rutberg & Bouikidis, 2018). The main quantitative research design that I will focus on is experimental. I have chosen this type of quantitative design because it helps group the participants in either control or experimental groups depending on the randomization process. For instance, if participants are being tested on the intensity of smoke in their lungs, the randomization process will help determine whether they can be grouped into controlled or experimental groups to assess findings.
