Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care. Reflection

The program equipped students with theoretical and practical knowledge of diagnostic principles, thus facilitating their role in medical facilities as a family nurse practitioner addressing the healthcare needs of individuals of all age groups. While this program was broad, this paper will reflect on how the achievement of the course outcomes has prepared me to meet the MSN program outcome. It will discuss how the professional values can be integrated through scholarship and service in health care, nurse practitioner core competency, and master’s essential IV.Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care.

Program Outcome #4: Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care.

I learned how to integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care. In particular, I attained the program’s outcome of professional identity in this program through an analysis of the organization of primary care practice and how it is influenced by various external forces, including legal, ethical, economic, and political factors (Poorchangizi et al., 2017). I managed to integrate professional values during the course through the evaluation of clinical cases and research. This analysis resulted in the development of my professional identity as a family nurse practitioner (FNP). I learned the professional core values of a nurse practitioner in theory and practice. The further development of my identity as an FNP and professionalism was facilitated by the integration of various professional core values such as trustworthiness, compassion, and accountability in clinical practice.Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care.

First, I was exposed to this outcome when I was handling a female client who was diagnosed with bulimia nervosa disorder during my clinical rotation. I noticed that the client was extremely anxious about her condition. She was concern about her eating habits, body image, and complexion.Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care. I allowed her to express her emotions and feelings. I was compassionate throughout the session despite experiencing challenges associated with a time-constraint environment where the interview was conducted. After a lengthy discussion, I enquired about her treatment plans. I ensure that trust and respect were developed at the beginning of the therapy. This, in turn, facilitated the establishment of rapport between me and the client. The client was willing to open up and express all her concerns due to a good relationship. Consequently, I was able to address her health needs based on the presented information.Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care.

Secondly, I achieved this particular outcome during the implementation of treatment plans for patients who were struggling to access proper services in healthcare organizations. I attended to a patient with multiple comorbidities during my clinical rotations. The chief complaint that was presented by the client was constipation. Bile duct cancer was detected through imaging. It was relatively hard for the patient to get an evaluation appointment with an oncologist. Instead, the client was given another appointment, thus it would take a relatively long period before the patient’s issue was addressed. We contacted another oncologist and urged her to give the patient an appointment in a few days. More so, we counseled the patient to support her psychologically.Integrate professional values through scholarship and service in health care.
