The Future of Nursing Report
Introduction

The Institute of Medicine (IOM) report developed a report that envisions the future of
nursing profession in the country. The report outlines a vision for transformed health care system
that is based on primary care and prevention as key drivers of quality health care for the entire
population (Grand Canyon University, 2018). The report advocates for interprofessional
collaboration and better coordination of care delivery. In attaining the expected goals, the report
makes recommendations for changes in nursing profession including expansion of nursing
faculty, attracting and retaining qualified nursing professionals, and transformation of the
utilization of nurses in multiple care settings.
