Our use of technology is becoming daily more essential and important to us, as most of our tasks are done using some type of technology that allows information to be more easily found and gathered. In a fast-running society like today, the use of technology may seem like the fastest and most efficient way to get things done, and to some extent, it is highly beneficial, but if it gets out of hand, this tool can do more harm than good for our development, as creativity is used is less and replaced by a Google search, and our brains get more use to the lack of concentration to be able to go from one place to another so easily, and our social skills are transferred to a screen.

Technology has greatly improved our society and led us to great advances in knowledge, and now allows us to perform tasks that we could not do before, such as turning off the lights without making any type of effort and just calling out “Alexa, turn off the lights”. Each advancement made in technology seems to take one less thing to do for our brains, but it might be here where the problem is found, as this mental effort is what allows us to learn rather than just memorize things for a small period of time, having an impact on how we learn and process information. Just as is stated by Nicholas Carrs in his 'Does the Internet Make You Smarter or Dumber?': “It is this control, this mental discipline, that we are at risk of losing as we spend even more time scanning and skimming online” (23).
