Leadership Theory: Application to Advanced Nursing Practice

A leadership style that aligns with my personal philosophy is the transformational
leadership style. This style entails encouraging juniors to subscribe to high moral standards as
portrayed by the leader (Asif et al., 2019). The leader has to be the role model as he or she also
has to practice the same sets of ideas and values that they would want to see in their followers.
Hence, the juniors will strive to live and act appropriately for its goodness and not for their own
interests. This leadership style can guide my followers and encourage them to follow the nursing
career's ethical guidelines.
My current leadership responsibilities include the conduction of physical exams. This
role entails taking patient details and subjecting them to specific tests to ascertain their
conditions (Sfantou et al., 2017). Another one of my duties involves keeping the health care
records of a patient. With every visit, I ensure to take down and record the patients’ details of a
visit and store them for future references. My most crucial duty involves communicating with
patients to either advise them or get to know their requirements. I will eventually give them
proper medical advice according to their needs. These are amongst my current as well as my
future expectations regarding my leadership role as a nurse.
I expect my future MSN role to help impact society as a whole. For the individuals that I
work with, I will have to supervise their functions, ensure that they are done accordingly, and
motivate them to be committed to their work. I will also make it an obligation to my organization
and surrounding society to offer them the highest quality of treatment with every ethical aspect
of my career taken into consideration. This means that as a senior nurse, I will have to be polite
to everybody, ensure they get proper treatment, and expect the same of my followers.
