Concepts of Power, Privilege, and/or Oppression

Introduction 

The issues of inequality among people have become a challenge in the US in that the community is supposed to be able to handle the needs of the population with the differences that are there among people. One of the common issues of concern that has occurred in the community is the issue of gender inequality. According to Barroso and Brown (2021), women aged between 25 and 34 years earn more than 93% more as compared to men in the same age group. In the early 1980s the community earned at least 33% less as compared to men but this has progressively risen. This paper focuses on the examination of the oppression that is being faced by the male persons in the community to identify the basis of handling the healthcare services. 

Social work skills are needed to provide culturally-relevant treatment services to a client system

The issue of deterioration in the capacity of handling the cases of gender inequality has deteriorated as a result of the lack of an effective means of change to ensure that one can handle the needs of the community. In the process of handling the issue of gender inequality, there is a need for putting in place various skills as opined by Harris‐Britt, Paces‐Wiles, and Wax (2021). 

One of the skills that are supposed to be put in place is to ensure that one is a good listener. This implies that one is supposed to be in a position to handle the needs of the community and that there is a need for ensuring that one can learn of the challenges that are faced.
