A therapeutic relationship refers to the close and consistent association and interaction
between the client and the therapist. This relationship is essential since it determines the
extent to which the client shares their beliefs, thoughts, and emotions, which helps tailor the
treatment to the unique needs of the patients. Usually, a therapeutic relationship is fostered on
trust, genuineness, respect, and empathy (Paris, 2015). The therapist shows empathy and
must be genuine such that they disclose all the treatment information to the patient. Some
ways I would foster a therapeutic relationship with the patient include; involving the patient
in setting treatment goals, avoiding being judgmental, and discussing the possible client
concerns that would affect the efficacy of the intervention, to name just a few. There are
various differences when sharing the diagnosis with individuals, families, and groups. For
instance, when sharing the diagnosis with an individual, one does not have to seek consent
