Thanks for the insightful discussion.I have learned that Master’s prepared nurse and APRNs play critical roles in the healthcare system. Master’s prepared nurses and APRNs serve as essential professionals in the healthcare table. Their primary role is to act as caregivers and offer patients expert advice on their health, though beyond that they also provide much-needed leadership and advocacy for the healthcare industry. As primary caregivers, APRNs are well-positioned to observe how changes in the industry can benefit patient outcomes (Phoenix, 2019). They have a unique insight due to their time spent with patients and have powerful voices to contribute to discussions related to policy change, healthcare cost containment, research initiatives and quality care strategies. So while APRNs may not be occupying corner offices or chairing major committees just yet, they prove themselves invaluable in the efforts of a more effective, efficient and equitable system of health care delivery for everyone (Phoenix, 2019).

Master’s and APRN nurses must be knowledgeable and disciplined professionals who possess the core competencies necessary to deliver innovative high-quality healthcare. The National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) has developed a comprehensive set of principles to ensure these nurses are up to date with current knowledge, practices, and methods. These include developing effective written and verbal communication skills, utilizing cultural proficiency in patient care, understanding pharmacology for advanced practice nursing, managing risk and safety measures for clients, understanding the economics of health care delivery, and developing leadership skills that will strengthen their nursing practice. By meeting those standards set forth by NONPF, Master’s and APRN nurses have an opportunity to make a difference that safeguards the well-being of their communities.
