Nursing leader’s server as advocates within their organizations. Leaders have requisite knowledge, skills, and understanding and represent the front door into the healthcare service delivery. Nursing leaders need to be comfortable withing their administrative structures to use their powers to advocate for the role of nurses. Advocating in policy discussions to help reduce health care cost and improvement in patients’ outcomes and quality of life through collaborative team-based care. (Stevenson, 2021) Advocating for nursing staff can begins with assessing needs. Do the nurses have the correct tools they need to provide best practice care. Are nurses being treated fairly and are they assuring measures to prevent nursing fatigue and burn out such as appropriate breaks and lunches.

Organizational Mission, Vision, and Values

Mission, vision, and values are terminologies used in organizational planning. An organization’s mission states an organization’s reason for existence, while a vision describes the goals to which the organization aspires (Alegre et al., 2018). Values express the beliefs held by an organization about the nature of work needed to accomplish its mission. This paper will discuss my previous organization’s mission, vision, and values and how they are reflected in the organizational culture and leadership practices.

Organizational Mission, Vision, and Values

My previous healthcare organization is an integrated academic healthcare system that provides a wide range of services, including preventive, curative, and rehabilitative services. Its mission is to improve the health of individuals and communities at home and throughout the world. The organization’s vision is to be the leading academic health science center in transforming health and healing through education, discovery, prevention, and care. Its values include exemplifying excellence, innovation, and collaboration and treating everyone with respect, care, and compassion. It also supports diversity, equity, and inclusion.

My nursing philosophy is that a nurse should always strive to provide high quality, empathetic, compassionate, and holistic patient care. A nurse should continuously engage in research to generate new knowledge that will guide clinical practice and improve health care outcomes. The organization’s mission aligns with my philosophy since it emphasizes providing the best care for patients and promotes the best possible outcomes. Besides, the vision is similar to my philosophy since it seeks to transform health outcomes by discovering new knowledge through research. Values similar to my philosophy include exemplifying innovation and treating all persons with respect, care, and compassion.

 

 

The organization’s mission and values are reflected in its culture and leadership since the staff were committed to providing quality care to patients and their families. It has adopted a culture of evidence-based practice, in which health providers seek to transform healthcare through research. The leaders encourage the staff to be innovative and conduct research to transform healthcare. Furthermore, the various professions collaborate in planning and implementing patient care and maximize the available resources to improve value.
