| Criteria | The safety issue that has been identified is pressure ulcers. This is a condition whereby one has skin sores occurring on the skin parts or sections where a patient presses for a long time such as in the elbow, buttocks, or knees. The selection of this issue is because in the instance that it occurs the patient will end up paying more for the healthcare services and there could be a risk of patients experiencing poor health. The scenario that is focused on is that of a patient who is an in-home care and is 80 years of age. The patient is unable to change her position and hence ends up sleeping on one part for a long time. The patient has started to have skin sores. The reason that I believe this is a nursing concern is that the cases of pressure ulcers cause injuries on the patient that may be permanent. The patient who experiences issues of pressure ulcers will end up having a poor quality of living and the occurrence of falls will influence the quality of health of patients. The instances of pressure ulcers may as well result in the patient staying in the health setting for a longer time. The occurrence of pressure ulcers results in the patient having health complications that could lead to the patient having an even more devastating health condition.
