Geriatric Case Study Assignment
The patient who is considered in this investigation is an 89-year-old Caucasian male called Mr. Bert Colton. The patient is presented to the clinic by his granddaughter due to complaints of panic, being unable to be calm, and always feeling that he wants to cry. The other issues that are presented by the patient are that there are issues of being restless, fatigued, and irritable since the diagnosis of open-heart surgery a year ago. This paper discusses the etiology, prevalence, and the plan for care for three differentia diagnoses of the patient.
Etiology/pathophysiology
Adwas, Jbireal, and Azab (2019) opine that this is an intense and continuous issue of being worried and fearful regarding all situations that one is experiencing. The patient with this condition may end up having rapid breathing, sweat feeling tired and fast heart rate. The issue of anxiety may occur as a result of the stressful situations that one experiences such as the issue of resting. The issue of anxiety is considered as the only health indicator that helps in the expression of instances that one gets excessive feelings and when the feelings end up interfering with the day-to-day living of the patient.

Anxiety is one of the common mental health issues in the US. Tian-Ci Quek et al. (2019) opine that 19.1% of the adults in the US are suffering from anxiety. The health concern is common among female persons as compared to the male population. The authors present that 23.4% of the female population have anxiety while 14.3% of the male are suffering from anxiety.
