NURS 6053 Assignment Personal Leadership Philosophies

The results from the assessment show that my five core themes include positivity, strategic, relator, belief, and futuristic. Positivity implies that I seek positive energy and synergy from people that I interact with in my activities and nursing practice. The theme implies that I seek the positive in any circumstance and my enthusiasm is contagious (Gallup Inc,2022). As strategic, I seek the best way of doing things, irrespective of the intricacies involved. Strategic implies that I see certain aspects and patterns that others cannot appreciate as they see complexities.

Relator means that I prefer and have positive attitude to relationships and interactions while belief implies that I possess certain core values that endure situations. Being futuristic means that I seek greater success on the horizon with limitless possibilities. I see in details what the future may have based on a host of aspects (Gallup Inc., 2022). The implication is that these results are true reflection of what I hold and believe in as a nurse and leader. Advanced practice nurses must see the future as full of possibilities and develop communities to offer best care.

Two Behaviors to Strengthen & Development Plan

The two aspects that I would wish to improve or strength are interactions and building relationships as well as giving others a second chance. Nursing is about caring and healing through holistic approach or model. One can only provide these aspects when they interact well and build communities. These behaviors are important as nursing moves to patient-centered and through the implementation of innovative care models like value-based purchasing and evidence-based practice (EBP) (Zambrano, 2019). Leaders can be demanding and require perfectionism which may be difficult to tolerate mistakes and errors. However, as a futuristic individual, it is essential to give people second chances when they make mistakes. I need to improve on these aspects so that I can have better teams to deliver quality care.

My plans to improve on these aspects will entail reading writings by great leaders and their path to success. I will also incorporate lessons and podcasts on leadership, especially building community as a servant leader. Further, I will seek more training on these aspects to improve my standing as a leader in the nursing unit.

Conclusion

Personal leadership philosophies are essential as they offer a framework for leaders to develop direction and success paths. These philosophies emanate from core values, strengths, and leadership styles that one adopts. The implication is that individuals must have philosophies that transcend their vision and mission statement to remain better leaders, right from their personal levels.
