Para 3: Links between my beliefs and understanding of children's art-making journey.

In my cultural background, the earth and a sustainable environment dictate a more significant role in the different aspects of identity (Chen—Hafteck, 2007). The most significant aspect that shapes an individual's identity is how one perceives the management of the environment around him/her. As such, the mother earth treats people well when conserved and sustained as opposed to human activities that tend to destroy nature. Conservation of the earth's environment is both a social and cultural practice that is highly celebrated (Richards, 2009). In children's art-making journey, I have observed the drawings made by children were not merely the artwork, they got inspired by their environment, and through art, and they have expressed their thoughts and ideas (Chen—Hafteck, 2007). Similarly, in my art-making journey, I too got inspired by the environment, for example, by hearing and seeing in the NEWS what's happening around the planet, lead me to draw a picture of "Earth" representing my thoughts and Ideas.

In practice, learning and teaching about art in visual arts require that one can uniquely express a feeling and produce through best practice. For instance, art-making dictates a significant role in how I express my opinions and diverse social issues. Climate change and pollution are a universal issue that I find so crucial in sustenance and human race survival (Chen—Hafteck, 2007). However, this is a topic that attracts tremendous controversial responses hence activating my contribution as an art enthusiast in a broader and diversified community. Besides, the role and function of creativity and engagement have transformed how people express their message in the current world. This contention sparked me to come up with an artistic drawing addressing the issue of climate change and pollution on earth.

The journey of my art experience can be traced back to my background, growing up in my social and cultural environment. Our home has several art pieces, an environment that not only reflect the greatness but instilled unique interest to pursue my interest by expressing it through an artistic framework. Further, an interest in art-making can be linked to numerous visits to museums and art exhibitions within my town and beyond. Climate change and pollution are among an issue that no matter its severity, it is an issue that most people in public find it hard to come to terms with its effects. According to Colbert (2006), persuading Americans about pollution remains one of the daunting issues that frustrates most policymakers. Through my art drawing, I wanted to express concern about how the earth continues to degrade over time as a result of human activities and poor management of environmental resources.

I used a pencil to draw the earth divided into two parts, with one part showing a cleaner and greener universe while the other part shows how the earth has been destroyed by pollution. My drawing incorporates colors achieved through the use of pencil colors to bring the drawing to life and distinguish the mood between the two parts. The other side has been shaded with dark colors to portray the degrading earth to indicate how people are damaging the environment. The socio-cultural factor that influenced my drawing is that nature (plants, animals, and the entire environment), the reason I used pencil colors to express my thoughts on environmental pollution

Conclusion

The arts education instills guided skills that encourage unique designing artwork through the use of best practices. My stand on the arts education process gives an insight on how I express my feelings on climate and pollution through an artistic depiction of the earth in two parts. Further, Juliana's paintings delve into the significance of the creative process in an early childhood setting. The two expressions also evoke research on the artistic learning process in young children and what it takes to become an art teacher in an early childhood environment. Conclusive results reveal that arts education provides an opportunity to improve an all-inclusive development that encourages individual inspiration and creativity
