Part 1 of the Module 2 Assessment, Evidence-Based Project, Part 1: Identifying Research Methodologies

Introduction

Finding resources to support best practices is vital for skill for nurses. Evidence-based practice helps to promote the safe nursing practice and improve patient outcomes. The clinical area of interest chosen for this assignment is the prevention of pressure ulcers. A PICOT question was formed to locate journal articles related to the subject.

PICOT: Among hospitalized bedridden patients (P), does the application of frequent repositioning, lotion, and use of pressure-relieving support surfaces (I) in comparison with current common practice (C) result in better prevention of pressure sores (O) within a period of six months (T)?

Why you chose this article and/or how it relates to the clinical issue of interest (include a brief explanation of the ethics of research related to your clinical issue of interest) I selected this piece because it explores the nurse’s involvement in pressure ulcer avoidance. No patient is allowed to get pressure injuries for the sake of research, which is how studies on this subject are ethical. The study results on the effectiveness of organic aloe vera in reducing pressure injuries are presented in the paper I chose.

According to study ethics, patients in the control group will not be purposefully subjected to pressure ulcer risk.

I picked this article because it discusses how to avoid pressure sores. Similar to other trials, it is against ethical considerations for patients to purposefully get bed sores while being studied. I selected this piece because it examines ways to relieve pressure in order to avoid bed sores. In this field, research ethics involves looking into strategies that will not do subjects any damage.
Brief description of the aims of the research of each peer-reviewed article To determine nurses’ understanding of educational strategies for treating pressure ulcers. To find out how aloe vera affects orthopedic hospital patients’ ability to avoid pressure injuries. To spread knowledge regarding pressure injury prophylaxis. To evaluate the clinical and financial merits of two different bed covering options.
Brief description of the research methodology used Be sure to identify if the methodology used was qualitativequantitative, or a mixed-methods approach. Be specific. It is a quantitative study with an experimental plan (Hoe & Hoare, 2012).
