There are various strengths that I have as a nurse one of which is the effectiveness of my communication skills. This is one of my strengths as it can be seen from my verbal and written capabilities. The communication skills have been helpful to me in that it has allowed me to be able to communicate with different stakeholders in the health setting. As such, it allows me to be able to effectively communicate with the other nurses, physicians, patients, and even the family members. This has played an instrumental role in that it has allowed me to learn of the situation at the moment. This will as well help me to be able to share information with the patients including their diagnosis and the results from the tests that are taken and educate them on the treatment plan.
The second strength that I possess is empathy. This comes in handy with my interaction with the patients and allows me to understand the way that the patients are feeling as well as the situation that the family is in at the moment and how to handle the situation in a manner that the patients and the family can appreciate. Being empathetic has been of importance since it allows me to comprehend and share the way that the patients are feeling. This, therefore, ensures that being the healthcare provider I can work towards the attainment of optimal health of the patients as alluded to by Bullington et al. (2019).
