The Cures Act became law in 2016 and it entails many aspects of healthcare. It was
created to aid in modernizing and personalization of healthcare, encourage research, support
innovation as well as restructure the healthcare system. The Cures Act has eliminated
unnecessary policies in healthcare organizations especially the one entailing the use of
paperwork and scientific conventions (Hudson & Collins, 2017). The Act will have a great
influence on system operation particularly in improving accessibility of health data. Health
Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act establishes that
patients have the right to access their medical information either in paper or electronic form
upon request. Further, HITECH necessitates the need to adopt appropriate health IT that
facilitates the exchange of electronic health information (McGonigle & Mastrian, 2017).
Thus, the Cures Act will facilitate adherence to HITECH rule by outlining particular policies
to patient access. Besides, it will promote partnership between the health organizations and
system developers that will enable patients to access their health information through
electronic means.
The act will solve the problems of interactivity to enhance patient care. It will also
encourage the interchange of accredited automated health data without any unusual struggle
on the part of the user (Lye, et al., 2018). Further, the policy will restrict any information
blockage by networks, healthcare providers, or developers. By eliminating any chance of
information blockage, it will be possible to exchange, access, or use automated health
information that is indispensable and sensible. To critically address the Cures Act, extra
implementation provisions and standards will be put in place. First, health system developers
will not be required to prohibit any essential information about its use, interactivity, safety,
and additional accreditation requirements that would necessitate its operational testing (Lye,
