Question: Describe one of the safety committees your organization uses and how it reduces risk within your organization. Who are the general members of the group, how often do they meet, and is there a regulatory requirement that they report or publish notes? Is this a good use of the staff’s time or would another method that still addresses the safety goal of this group be more efficient?

Safety committees used in your organization and how it reduces risk.

Answer:

The organization that I work for has a Safety Committee that meets once a month. The Safety Committee is made up of the Safety Manager, the Assistant Safety Manager, the Safety Coordinator, the Safety Supervisors, and the Safety Representatives. The Safety Committee discusses various safety topics such as safety audits, safety training, safety inspections, and safety goals. The Safety Committee also reviews the safety reports that have been submitted by the employees. The Safety Committee is a good use of the staff’s time because it allows the staff to discuss various safety topics and to review the safety reports.
