Most Christian poems are often utilized for depicting faith as a way for inspiring individuals with trust and hope in the Lord. They significantly help in providing the words of truth for rebuilding faith as well as putting individuals’ confidence in trusting God. For instance, the “Descending Theology, The Resurrection” and “Unholy Sonnet 11” have each utilized the theme of faith for inspiring hope and trust to God.
“Descending Theology” has utilized the theme of faith for assuring Christians that Jesus resurrected and hence anyone believing in Jesus Christ would as well resurrect through faith. It observes that prayer is ultimately the only ways of being with God and assuring Christians that God would always be with them in all their troubles. Faith in God is all involved with the attuned sense of awareness, intercessions, confession, requests, praise, besides being simply silence. For instance, “Descending Theology” poem states that “it’s your limbs he comes to fill” as a way for assuring Christians that Jesus Christ would always be there to protect them and that his resurrection saved all people from the mysteries of the world. The poem has been utilized as a systematic theology for formulating an orderly, coherent, and rational account of Christian beliefs and faith. Besides, it has drawn on the foundational Christianity sacred texts, while also simultaneously investigating the Christian doctrine development over the course of Christianity history, especially through the philosophical evolution.
“Descending Theology” also helps in providing Christians with the faith of believing in life after death as Jesus Christ also overcame death by resurrecting and going to heaven. The Resurrection of Jesus also helps in strengthening the faith and belief of Christians that God raised Jesus and can also raise individuals from their troubles or even save them from death so long as they believe in Jesus and God, and through consistent prayers.
On the other hand, the “Unholy Sonnet 11” have also utilized the theme of faith for strengthening the belief of Christians concerning God. For instance, this poem states that “half asleep in prayer I said the right thing and felt a sudden pleasure coming into my own body and the room.” As a result, this significantly helps in strengthening Christian’s faith about the importance of prayer. The poem emphasizes on the importance of praying as a way of worshipping and praising God, in addition to enjoying the religious experience. In this poem, faith is being observed as a substance of various things that are being hoped for as well as the evidence for things that are not seen. Through consistent prayers, individuals can be capable of strengthening their faith by believing in the facts and truth about the living word of God and Jesus Christ.
The “unholy sonnet 11” poem can be observed as more convincing as compared to the “Descending Theology” poem. It is because this poem appears to be more explicit with regards to its treatment of prayer and its outcome on love and religion. Besides, the poem’s title itself is somehow theological, which can significantly assist in establishing a good relationship between God and his followers and strengthening religious faith and love. This poem also helps in strengthening Christians’ faith in being canonized as saints who should constantly be engaged in prayers as a way of communicating to God.
