By completing the assignments assigned by my instructor, I now know the different symptoms and treatment strategies of many neurological conditions, such as dementia. I have learned that neurological disorders affect the cognition abilities of the individuals affected.
Through this course, I have learned many nursing strategies that can be used to provide care to perioperative clients. I have learned that nurses can be a source of comfort and support for patients before surgery. Nurses can also be empathetic when providing information concerning the surgeries.
Aging patients have complex healthcare needs for the multiple conditions they suffer from (Fulmer et al., 2021). I have read many textbooks and articles and learned of the many healthcare conditions this population suffers from. I have also read about the risk factors for complex conditions, such as lifestyle and diet.
Multisystem organ failure can be defined as the failure of two or more organs to function properly due to certain conditions (Typpo & Lacroix, 2017). By conducting research, I have learned of the effects of multisystem organ failure on the patient. I have learned that nurses should prioritize patient needs when implementing a care plan.
Medical emergencies are sometimes difficult to handle. Nurses must be calm and steady when handling these patients. In this course, I have learned the importance of patient assessment in medical emergencies. Conducting assessments will help the nurse to determine care needs and prioritize plans.
During disaster response, nurses are in charge of activating disaster plans in triage plans in their healthcare facilities, triage cases, and offering emergency care for injured individuals (Firouzkouhi et al., 2021). Nurses also help coordinate and transport victims to other healthcare facilities.
I have achieved critical thinking skills by doing my assignments, conducting research, and analyzing information from the internet. This has equipped me with the skills to handle any healthcare issues that may affect patient care.
