PRAC Course Outcome(s) Addressed:  Familiarize myself with different psychotherapeutic modalities.  Incorporate Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy with clients who have unhealthy and misleading thoughts, then replace those thoughts with healthier and more accurate ideas.  Provide psychoeducational therapy to clients who still do not understand their mental illness and need help developing good coping strategies. Objective 2: By the end of this practicum in May 2021, I will be proficient in developing and prioritizing a list of differential diagnoses from the psychiatric interview information, leading to a diagnosis according to the DSM-5 criteria. This objective will be obtained by attending the necessary clinical hours for the PMHNP specialty and collaborating with team members. Planned Activities: Complete a psychiatric interview, including chief complaint, present illness, past psychiatric history, substance abuse, past medical history, family history, social history, review of systems, mental status exam, physical examination, formulation, DSM-5 diagnoses, and treatment plan. Planned Activities: I will select relevant topics to my client's diagnoses and discuss them during group therapy. I will provide validation and therapeutic feedback to my clients. Also, I will set goals as part of my client's treatment plans. Setting goals will help the client stay motivated, feel satisfied, avoid feeling overwhelmed, and set priorities.
