There are several professional nursing associations, organizations that are related to the family nurse practitioner specialty. However, the most directly related is the American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP). This is an association of all the nurse practitioners (belonging to the role of certified nurse practitioner or CNP) in the United States of America. The organization is instrumental in providing a platform for nurse practitioners across the country to network. It also advocates for the welfare of NPs and provides resources for continuous professional development. To join or become a member of this association, one has to subscribe and pay either a monthly or an annual fee. Both students and established professional NPs can join the organization (AANP, n.d.).
