The Role of the Nurse Informaticist in Systems Development and Implementation

The SDLC (systems development life cycle) is a collection of techniques for planning

and implementing change in any organization. SDLC is crucial because it captures the ever-

changing system demands through user input. Later, the system utilizes cognitive-social

technological features in five stages to meet the demands of the users. Finally, it is used in

healthcare to create and maintain existing Health Information Technologies (HIT). Because

nurses are the ones who combine various technologies while providing care, the growing

deployment of HIT has a substantial impact on their duties. As a result, nurses should participate

in the decision-making process for adopting and implementing new HIT. The study will focus on

a role of a graduate-level nurse in system development and execution based on the SDLC

method's five stages.
