code standards. Standard 5.04 Media Presentations place emphasis on psychologists offering guidance to the
unrestricted public and making statements by means of internet, prints, or others electronic broadcast.
Psychologist must take certain precautions to safeguard that their statements are based on their professional
knowledge, training or experience in according with correct psychological narratives and practice.
In comparison to ethical standard 5.01c that applies only to professional psychologists who are claiming degrees
or credentials as indication of their proficiency to provide health services. Dissimilar to ethical standard 5.01b,
this standard is not aimed at whether a psychologist truly acquired the degree but whether the degree can be
proclaimed as a basis for offering therapy or diagnostic or other types of health services (Fisher, 2013).
Otherwise, it is imperative for psychologists to develop consistency in professional practice that includes the
understanding of other ethical standards. Psychologists must be aware of the potential violations of
misrepresenting their professional credentials in website advertising.
