The study guide is based on the content from this module and is to be completed as you go through your learning material for this module. It is strongly suggested that you complete this assignment to better prepare for upcoming assignments and exams. This tool will make a handy reference as you go forward in your practice and career.

This course has a total of five topics that cover the essentials of a baccalaureate education, the scope of nursing and differentiation of ADN and BSN educations, nursing history, professional accountability, and advocacy and activism. I believe these topics are arranged in such a way that we maneuver through this course by understanding and reinforcing our foundation as nurses and the continuation of our duties throughout our careers.

I am familiar with most of these weekly objectives, we may not actually realize that we are living through these topics day-to-day in our professions, but they somehow integrate into our daily lives. Some of these topics which we use as skills and knowledge in our profession, I can personally benefit from by expanding my knowledge on and implementing them at my workplace. We never stop learning and adapting.

I do not know about the 2021 National Academy of Medicine Report on the nursing profession, but I am interested in reading on that topic, and I am curious if Covid-19 has anything to do with that or impacted this report in any way. And I am always interested in the nursing scope of practice and how it will differ from the Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) scope of practice.

I am most excited to discuss topics four and five. Topic four interests me because of the topics on health equity and social needs, and professional accountability for personal self-care in nursing. Topic five I would love to talk about advocacy and activism. I am currently working on being more active at my workplace and I would love to take this knowledge with me.

The most intimidating part about this course (going back to school in general) is getting back into a school routine and finding that delicate balance again. Attending school as an ADN student was grueling but fun, so I’m hopeful that this experience will be fun

Hello everyone!

My name is

I lived better part of my lifetime in Kenya Nairobi, also in Homabay where I did my Nursing Course in Kenya, then Machakos County for work purpose. I have travelled to many regions within Kenya and without, namely: Uganda, South Africa and now US. Currently I live in Kentucky, Lexington, USA.

I went to Islamia Primary School for my primary education and for my Secondary Education, I went to Eastleigh High School. For my tertiary education I attended Kenya Medical Training College where I graduated with a Diploma in Community Health Nursing.

I practiced as a nurse in a in Private hospital from 2015 to early 2016 then in a government Health facility from April 2016 to Nov 2022 before migrating to the US.

I am excited to further my education in a field that I genuinely love. My motivation is my family, especially my two kids. My family is my rock and always inspired me to continue pushing forward. They supported all my endeavors and honestly in their eyes, I could do no wrong. I am also inspired by the current society; it is one in which many people need the services and provisions of healthcare providers. During my graduate experience I hope to continue to learn new and more information. I also hope to gain more experience within my current line of work. I am excited to learn about different techniques that I will be able to utilize to further my career. After graduating I hope to continue practicing and work my way into administration within the Community Health Nursing field. Since GCU is christian based, I believe this degree will expand and improve my spiritual awareness.

The most challenging aspect of this classroom will be the fact that it is entirely online. This means that we will have to be very disciplined in our studies, and make sure that we are keeping up with the classwork. There will be no one to remind us to do our work, or to help us if we get stuck. We will have to be very organized and self-motivated in order to succeed. Another challenge will be the pace of the class. Since we will be covering a lot of material, we will have to make sure that we are keeping up with the readings and the lectures. There will be a lot of information to process, and it will be important to synthesize it all in order to understand it. Lastly, we will have to be very careful in our discussions and debate. Since we will not be meeting in person, it will be easy to misread people’s tone and intent. We will have to be very respectful and considerate of each other in order to maintain a productive and positive learning environment.

What I like to do with Spare time: Meeting new friends and Socializing, listening to music and engaging in Sporting activities like Playing Soccer or exercising. I like to read motivational books like Benny Carson’s Think Big or Robe
