Introduction

Risk management is important in healthcare organizations because it ensures that the organization can be able to recover from any calamities that may be experienced. This is as well expected to help in smoothing the flow of operations as intimated by Kovitwanichkanont and Driscoll (2018). The process of development of measures to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases is carried out by the risk management department of the organization. The precautions that are focused on the prevention of infections are fundamental because they will ensure that the healthcare providers are ready to handle emergency cases that may arise in the health setting. This paper aims to present an analysis of an interview that is carried out with the major doctor in the clinic who helped in the provision of insight on the department that he runs.

Risk management strategies used in the organization’s risk control program

The response from the interviewee is that there are various risks of infections that may occur and that the healthcare facility has employed various strategies to help in the management of healthcare-related infections. One of the strategies that are being used is the use of highly skilled microbiologists. Microbiologists play an instrumental role in ensuring that there is control of hospital-associated infections, especially with the availability of laboratories and equipment. The microbiologists help in the process of advising the other healthcare personnel on HAI (Toniolo et al., 2019).

The other strategy that is applied in the healthcare organization is the enhancement of education of the staff on the risks that are faced by patients and the need for maintaining hand hygiene.
