We’ll write everything from scratch Question  Nursing-Evidence-Based Practice Concisely define evidenced-based practice, the evolution of EBP, and how barriers to EBP can be overcome. Briefly give an example of a compelling clinical question that piques your interest.

Nursing-Evidence-Based Practice

Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the objective use of current research and information to help clinical decision-making and policy formulation (McMenamin et al., 2019). This helps in improving patient experience and healthcare outcomes. EBP has been used in healthcare since it focuses on strategies proven by research rather than relying on clinical experience alone. EBP requires an ongoing review of current literature to obtain reliable information used in decision-making and policy formulation. Organizations must implement quality assurance practices to ensure that EBP is sustainable and that healthcare services succeed. EBP started in the times of Florence Nightingale, who believed that data was useful for policy formulation (McMenamin et al., 2019). Since then, there has been a steady growth of EBP in nursing.

There are many barriers to the implementation of EBP. They include a lack of time to retrieve evidence, a lack of knowledge about EBP, and resistance to changes by healthcare professionals (Baatiema et al., 2017). One way to defeat these barriers is to have support from the administration. Healthcare administrators can support their employees by training them on using EBP effectively and notifying them about current projects to ensure their full participation. In addition to this, they can create an organizational culture that embraces change with minimal resistance.

I will use a foreground ground to help me make clinical decisions. This question will help in making a clinical decision concerning a specific population of patients. This question will help in comparing treatment modalities. The clinical question that I am interested in is: In surgical patients aged 60 years, how does the use of chlorhexidine gluconate compared to iodine-based antiseptics reduce the rate of surgical site infections within 30 days?
