What does professional commitment mean to you? Give an example.

I believe that professional commitment is the individual desire to stay in a given profession and a sense of responsibility towards contributing to the advancement of a given profession and helping solve the challenges and problems (Mitchell et al., 2018). For instance, in nursing, the professional commitment would include providing optimal care to patients and being actively involved in promoting the nursing profession. To display professional commitment, a nurse, therefore, has to subscribe to continuous education so has to be consistently updated with the latest evidence-based practices that can allow them to provide optimal health care services to their patients. In nursing, professional commitment can also include being actively involved in promoting the nursing profession, for example, through advocacy efforts. A nurse can therefore display a professional commitment to the nursing profession by being involved in the active formulation of laws and policies that enhance and contribute to the advancement of the profession (Mitchell et al., 2018).
