During my early days as a Psychology student, I encountered poverty-based discrimination. I engaged in group activities, anticipating a warm welcome irrespective of financial background. Instead, my peers avoided me due to my frugal lifestyle, a source of insecurity rooted in my parent's struggle to afford education. These financial difficulties resulted in my failure to invest in fashionable clothes and latest smartphones, leading my peers to unfairly associate social status with academic capabilities. Despite excelling in academics, my colleagues shrugged off my educational accomplishments, perceiving me merely as a mere scholarship beneficiary. They harbored the notion that my financial inadequacies tainted my potential as a valuable teammate, undermining my capacity to contribute effectively. Feeling rejected and stigmatized, I grew self-conscious and shielded myself from social interactions, worrying my financial state would overshadow my character and skills.

Despite this prejudice, I remained resilient and determined to showcase my character and capabilities. I dedicated myself to excelling in academic pursuits, showcasing my willingness to work hard and overcome obstacles. I actively engaged in classroom discussions and collaborative projects, consistently demonstrating my knowledge and commitment. With time, a handful of open-minded peers recognized my dedication and welcomed me into their study groups and extracurricular activities. In their company, I had the chance to display my true character and abilities. Gradually, through perseverance and hard work, I was able to break down the prejudiced barriers and prove that one's worth extends far beyond their financial circumstances, aligning with King's vision of ans society judged not by external factors but by individual character and merit (Smith, 2019).
